How getting married in Portugal works

The Portuguese civil marriage process can be clear when the route is prepared correctly. Marry in Portugal manages the process before you travel, so you do not need to figure out the registry system alone.

The managed route

You send us your situation. We handle the rest.

You send us your case. We check the route, prepare the document path, coordinate the registry process, arrange the interpreter and guide you through one official appointment in Portugal.

You come to Portugal for one official registry appointment. After registration, you leave officially married with your Portuguese marriage certificate.

Step by step

Six steps from your first message to your certificate

  1. 01

    Tell us your situation

We start with the facts that matter: citizenships, countries of residence, marital status, previous marriages, document availability and whether you already live in Portugal. You do not need to know which Portuguese registry will accept your case. That is what we check.

  2. 02

    We check your document route

Foreign documents are the part that often slows couples down. We review what applies to your situation and explain what needs to be prepared before filing. This may include birth certificates, certificates of matrimonial capacity, apostilles, certified translations, previous divorce documents or name difference explanations.

  3. 03

    We prepare the filing path

Once the document route is clear, we prepare the marriage registration path and coordinate the filing process with the Portuguese civil registry. The goal is simple: prepare the case correctly before you travel, so the appointment in Portugal is not left to chance.

  4. 04

    We coordinate the appointment

Portuguese registries can be cautious when foreign documents are involved. We manage communication, clarify the route and work toward a confirmed appointment date. You do not need to chase the registry yourself.

  5. 05

You come to Portugal for one official appointment

You attend the official civil registry appointment in Portugal. We arrange the interpreter and guide you through what happens at the appointment. This is the legal registration moment. It is not a wedding show and it does not require a ceremony package.

  6. 06

You leave married with your certificate

After registration, you leave officially married with your Portuguese marriage certificate. If apostille, certified translation or delivery is needed, we coordinate the next steps so the certificate package can be used where you need it.
